Performance claims on this site are numbers taken off real hardware. When something is slow, the first change is the one that makes the cause visible.
A call that cannot be honoured returns an error. Silently reporting success for work that did not happen turns a clear fault into corruption somewhere else.
The documentation carries a known-limits section. Software gets better when its gaps are written down.
